Materials & care
As the name KLAEI suggests, our jewelry is primarily made of polymer clay and finished with high-quality, hypoallergenic, and nickel-free metal components .
What is polymer clay?
Polymer clay – better known as FIMO® – is a modeling clay that can be easily shaped by hand and then cured in an oven. This process gives the material two exciting properties that are particularly well-suited for fashion jewelry:
- It's as light as a feather – so you'll barely feel even large earrings on your earlobes!
- It is very durable.
Polymer clay also offers many opportunities to unleash your creativity: From versatile techniques to a seemingly endless selection of cutters and textures, there's everything a designer's heart desires. We love polymer clay. 🤍
Handmade with love
All styles are designed with great attention to detail by me, Claudia, in Linz/Austria.
Each piece of jewelry undergoes a lengthy design process—from color mixing to prototyping to the finished piece, all stages are crafted by hand. So each piece is truly unique.

Our jewelry
Since we ourselves have sensitive ear piercings, it is important to us to provide detailed material information and to use materials that are generally well tolerated . Therefore, you will also find always all information about the materials used.
At KLAEI we primarily work with stainless steel, brass, 18-carat gold plating or sterling silver.
Selected jewelry pieces also offer the option of switching to surgical stainless steel or plastic studs. Learn more here: For sensitive ears
ECO friendly packaging
Our products are mounted on decorative cards made of CO2-neutral recycled paper and all shipping and gift packaging is FSC certified, with foam inserts made from tall oil (without crude oil/plastic).
Our gift packaging, in particular, is very sturdy, and we recommend not throwing it away but reusing it, for example, as a storage box!
Sustainable greeting cards
All of our greeting cards are also printed on CO2-neutral recycled paper . Small dark inclusions in the paper are a distinctive feature and testament to the recycled nature of the material. The beautiful feel makes it perfect for writing on with loving words.
Important care tips
To ensure that your jewelry stays beautiful for as long as possible and that you enjoy it, we have the following care tips for you.
Please avoid ✋🏻
- Your jewelry doesn't like sleeping on your ears! Remove it before going to bed to avoid breakage or bending and store it in a dry place.
- Avoid contact with any liquids such as water, steam, perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, oil, cleaning products, and even sweat. These can discolor the jewelry or damage the surface. Therefore, bathe, shower, swim, and exercise without it.
- Avoid prolonged or strong sunlight, and don't leave your favorite pieces in direct sunlight. This can discolor or fade your jewelry.
- Avoid excessive pressure, impacts, or blows against hard surfaces, and do not bend the polymer clay pieces! Your jewelry could break, scratch, or pieces could come apart.
Cleaning 🫧
- If your pieces get dirty, you can gently clean them with a soft cloth and water with a little soap. Please note: Do not use alcohol, as this will dissolve the polymer clay!
- You can simply soak raw brass in ketchup – yes, ketchup 😉 – for a short time and then wash it off with water.
- Pieces with unsealed gold/silver/rose gold leaf finishes should not be cleaned or should only be cleaned very carefully!
